Mejja Family
Mejja is the youngest of three brothers.
He was raised by a single mother called Khadija.
Her mother is his greatest inspiration.
She suffered from a brain tumor, which made her lose her memory, which she later regained.
She also loved singing Mejja bedtime stories.
His father was in the army and wasn’t present in his life.
He later passed on.
Mejja once said;
“ I call myself Khadija because my father was a like sperm donor.”
Mejja Education
Mejja attended Naromoru High School, located in Naromoru, Nyeri County – Kenya.
He finished high school and started hustling.
Mejja Hustling Journey
Mejja started hustling by selling groundnuts in Naromoru town. ( A town between Njeri & Nanyuki – Kenya).
The business flopped, and he then returned to Nyeri town.
He started hanging advertisement posters for events all over town.
Mejja had to wake up as early as 5 AM to do the job.
Mejja Musical Journey
Mejja started appearing in local mixes while living in Nyeri.
He later participated in a talent search presented by Telecommunication & Mobile Money service provider, Airtel, formerly Celtel.
He became the runner-up in the competition.
He was awarded a Nokia 1110 phone with airtime worth 50 Kenya shillings.
He proceeded to the finals in Nairobi and later became the winner.
He was awarded a piano and a Television.
Calif Records
Mejja met Clemo at the talent search event, who had an interest in recording a song for him.
They exchanged contacts, then Mejja went back to Nyeri.
After 3 months, Clemo called him back to Nairobi.
Clemo welcomed him to his house, then went and did clothes shopping for him.
Mejja then recorded his big hit song, “Jana Kuliendaje”, but the song was rejected from being played by one of the biggest TV programs at the time.
Mejja was also booed during his first show, which was a basketball show presented by Sprite.
He used to copy his music to CDs, then give them out for free to people during traffic on Roads such as Thika Road, Jogoo Road in Nairobi and also to different Matatu Drivers.

Juacali once took him to Machakos, which was his first place to perform outside Nairobi.
At the end of every performance, Mejja normally says;
“Usiangalie mahali umetoka ukienda mbele na ukifika mahali unaenda usiangalie mahali umetoka, na usisahau kuambia mwenyezi mungu.”
Which translates to;
“When moving forward, don’t look at where you came from, and when you reach your destination, don’t forget where you came from and don’t forget to tell God.”
The Kansoul
Mejja left Calif Records by Clemo and formed ‘The Kansoul, alongside Kid Kora and Madtraxx.

Mejja Relationship
During an interview in 2018 at Radio Jambo, Mejja revealed that his ex-wife broke up with him through a text after they were in a relationship for five years.
Mejja fell into depression and thought about suicide to put an end to his devastation.
Mejja was later in another relationship that ended in December 2020.
